Every calculation runs midnight to midnight in your local time zone. That is what a calendar day means, and it's why the clock time you open the page never changes your result.

Here's the test I run on any day counter: check tomorrow. It should return 1. If it returns 2, the tool is counting the current day as well as the target, and every other figure it gives you will be one day too high.

Counting goes wrong when people mix inclusive and exclusive methods. Every figure here uses exclusive counting, so the start day is not added to the total. January 1 to January 2 returns 1 day. The date difference calculator uses the same convention, so the two pages will always agree.

How do I calculate the days until my final exams?

A full academic year runs somewhere around 240 to 250 days depending on where the term boundaries fall, which is far too long a span to count reliably by hand. One skipped month, and your revision plan collapses.

Long spans are where manual counting breaks down, because leap years fall unevenly across decades.

How many days until Christmas?

It depends on where you count from. Christmas is fixed on December 25, but the number of days until it changes every day of the year. Counting from January 1, Christmas sits 358 days ahead in a common year and 359 in a leap year. From December 1, it's 24 days.

That gap is the whole point. A days-until figure only means something against a fixed start date, which is why the calculator anchors on today unless you tell it otherwise

How many days until Halloween?

Halloween is fixed on October 31, so the date never moves, but the count does. From January 1, Halloween sits 303 days ahead in a common year and 304 in a leap year. From October 1, it's 30 days.

Can I count days that have already passed?

Not on this page. This calculator counts forward to a future date. For a gap that has already happened, or for any two dates that aren't today, use the date difference calculator instead.

How is the day count calculated?

The tool measures whole days from midnight to midnight in your local time zone. It subtracts your start date from your target date and returns the number of calendar days between them. Today sits at day zero, so tomorrow returns 1. Partial days never appear in the figure.

Does the calculator account for leap years?

Yes. It accounts for leap years and for months of different lengths, so the years, months, weeks, and days breakdown stays calendar-accurate.
